I used to absolutely love So…? Fragrance as a young teenager; and so when they got in contact with me and offered to send me their latest releases, I was certainly intrigued what the brand was like now, 8 or so years later.
So first up are their Eau de Parfum* offerings available in three different scents: Original I Am, Dark Romance and Sheer Illusions. Now if you know me personally, you’ll know that I’m a bit of a perfume addict and my collection is out of hand, to say the least. That being said, I am always on the hunt for another scent and retailing at £5.99 for 30ml, these certainly aren’t to be grumbled at.
The collection revolves around the hashtag #UnleashYourStyle, taking inspiration from catwalk trends for both the bottle designs and the scents themselves. On first impressions, all three smell very different and not too dissimilar to some of my much higher end perfumes.
The scents themselves…
Original I Am – fresh notes of fruity mandarin and orange blossom, with a hint of cashmere wood
Dark Romance – a rich blend of bergamot, pink pepper and dark praline; with flirty notes of violet and vanilla
Sheer Illusions – a blend of mandarin and bergamot, progressing to rose and jasmine and a creamy sandalwood base
My favourite of all three perfumes has to be Dark Romance as I tend to lean more towards heavier muskier scents than those floral and lighter ones. That being said, I do find Sheer Illusions to be another firm favourite because of the bergamot and sandalwood notes. These are great everyday alternatives and do give a scent that lasts throughout the day; I will be saving these for holidays and breaks away I think!
Next up are the even more purse-friendly releases, the range of Body Mists*, which are not only affordable but enough to wear as your everyday scent. Especially if you’re like me and get a bit spritz happy with your most eye wateringly expensive perfumes, so these make great alternatives retailing for only £3.99 at Boots and Superdrug.
Each bottle claims to hold 600 sprays and although I’m yet to find this out, I have been using a few of the scents on rotation now for over a month and all have well over three-quarters left. I find myself using around 3-4 pumps to give a nice mist all over, both on my skin and clothes, like a regular perfume.
Now onto the scents themselves and a little breakdown of the notes, so that you know exactly which one to choose…
Floriental – an energising scent with notes of pear, apple and mandarin, mixed with freesia and violet
Watermelon – a sparkling blend of watermelon, with sweet notes of red berries and apple blossom
Vanilla Milkshake – sweet vanilla notes with a playful mix of peach and plum
Fresh Musk – a sophisticated blend of mandarin
Each of these body mists is named aptly to the scents they spritz as, and what is written is exactly how they smell which is unusual for a less expensive scent. If you like fruity and fresh scents I’d say go for Pink Grapefruit or Iced Melon as these are both super tropical and almost holiday island scent. Whereas if you favour more floral scents, Floriental and
These body mists are the ideal handbag companion and perfect for on-the-go refreshes. They are packaged in pretty, clear plastic bottles so perfect for travelling and no need to worry about carrying an expensive glass bottle around. As mentioned, these are available to purchase in both Superdrug and Boots and retail for £3.99, but they are often part of in-store deals so keep an eye out for that too!
Which So…? Body Mist would you choose? Or are the Eau de Parfum’s more to your taste?
