My Birthday Wishlist 2017

It appears that it has become somewhat of a tradition on my blog for my yearly ‘Birthday Wishlist’ post – more like my excuse to swoon over all the things I’d like but can’t afford. With my 24th birthday coming up in a few weeks, I thought I’d put together a little wishlist of all the things I would ask for if money were no object. I can instantly see a rose gold and pink theme happening and that’s got to be a good thing!

When birthdays or Christmas come around, I often ask for a few things that I’ve previously run out of and this year is no exception. My beloved Becca Champagne Pop Highlighter has finally reached the end of it’s life, it’s been a good year or so but dropping it from a height definitely didn’t help to prolong it any more. This is my absolute favourite highlighting product and I use this everyday without fail, so it certainly is one I have my fingers crossed to receive. Another makeup favourite is the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara, which I’ve gone through three sample sized versions of and I think it’s finally time I got the full-size as it’s the best!

Now onto the larger and more ‘wishful thinking, in my dreams’ type presents. First up are these two beautiful Rose Gold Pandora rings, which I’ve had my eye on for a little while now and am desperate to add to my jewellery collection. I have a thing for mixing silver and rose gold at the minute and I think these will compliment my everyday bracelets so nicely. Next is probably something I’ve had on my wishlist for a few years now but I just haven’t ever really asked for it or bought it myself, and it’s this Saint Laurent Card Holder – isn’t it a beauty! This is a totally unnecessary item and one that I definitely don’t need, but I feel like I throw so much rubbish into larger purses (like this Vivienne Westwood version that I also have my eye on) and it seems like a card holder could be just what I need. I also carry a few smaller bags and would like something that will fit in those nicely.

So there you have it, another year and another swoon-worthy Birthday Wishlist. Let me know if any of these things are on your wishlist too!

Attempting To Become A Responsible Shopper

While writing today’s post, I had no idea what to call it. Becoming a responsible shopper is something that has been playing on my mind for a while, and is something that I really wanted to write about.! Today’s post is about my attempts at becoming a responsible shopper, and curbing my spending habits by carefully choosing what I want to buy.

If you know me on a personal level, you will know straight off that I’m not a saver. I never have been and I don’t think I ever will be fully. With that being said, it was a 2017 goal of mine to become slightly better at pinching the pennies and saving just that little bit each month. Now so far, I haven’t really kept to that and I’ve saved a grand total of £50 (I did have that horrible thing called car insurance to pay for too, so that is an excuse right?), spending the rest of my money on a total of 3 hair appointments, 4 nail appointments, 5 meals (plus some), 3 cinema visits, 2 dresses, 1 skirt, 2 tops, 2 pairs of sunglasses and 3 totally necessary pairs of boots. And then a few other bits. On reflection, it looks like I really haven’t tried at all but for me, that’s pretty good going in four months!

I’ll admit it, I’m a shopaholic. I love shopping and the thrill of waiting for a new delivery is always one of the best moments. However, I am starting to realise that adult life is looming and saving is something I need to start putting more of an effort into. Even if it just means I limit myself to two clothing purchases a month – typing that actually made me quiver inside a little.

I partly blame the blogging and Instagram industry for the majority of my spending habits, as we’re faced with hauls and swishy outfit shots on a daily basis and the desire for new clothes and beauty products often becomes so great that it truly is hard to resist. I have definitely felt the pressure on a regular basis to own the latest and greatest clothes for the purpose of shooting an outfit post or a #fwis as I feel I can’t possibly write about something that a. is old and b. isn’t available to buy anymore. What is the point? Well I’ve decided to get out of this mind frame because the point is, shooting an old coat with a brand new pair of boots for example, is still relevant and is still good content.

So that has been my little – or rater long – ramble for today. I hope you enjoyed this different post and although I don’t expect my shopping habits to disappear completely, I am going to make a real effort to become a more responsible shopper. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this subject and also what you think of bloggers including a mix of new (and available) pieces, with those wardrobe staples from a year or two ago.

The Man Repeller

man repeller outfit

Man Repeller –noun: Outfitting oneself in a sartorially offensive way that will result in repelling members of the opposite sex.

Anyone who knows me will know that my style is usually a mix of girly and casual, opting for jeans most days, but injecting some of those girly elements through pink hues and the occasional skirt and dress. My style is anything but this outfit. Printed biker jackets, studded shoes, a dog collar choker (as my dad liked to call it) and of course, all black. Not my usual style but one that I’m more than happy to embrace once in a while. It’s the ultimate man repeller and as much as it saddens me to say it, is the reason that a lot of girls including myself, often avoid such outfits.

My main inspiration for this outfit actually came from this amazing (£10!) Primark printed biker jacket that I picked up in the sale a few weeks ago. It’s the perfect non-leather leather jacket that just adds that little bit extra to an otherwise boring outfit like this one. I have seen it in a few stores still, and there’s quite a few variations so I’d urge you to pop into your nearest Primark and have a look. As the jacket is quite rock and roll, I paired it with my new favourite studded flats (also available in white here) and this bandanna choker from the Megan Mckenna collection for MissPap.

This outfit is out of my comfort zone, and it is one that not everyone is going to like. But there’s some days where I just don’t care what other people think, and if I want to wear a dog collar (thanks dad) and a printed biker jacket, then I will! Who else has those, this is totally not me but I’m going to wear it anyway days? Let me know!

Pink Loafers

Another day, another ode to my new obsession; Pink. More specifically, these amazing Gucci dupe pink loafers that I may or may not have picked up in two different colourways. I’m obsessed, what can I say. If they didn’t more options I definitely would be getting those too!

When I was younger I hated pink and outright refused to wear such a girly colour, and then I went through the phase that I still dip in and out of most days, all black. However now, I have injected some colour into my wardrobe, mainly in the form of pink hues, leading to outfits like this, to some, OTT look.

I’m going through a huge jumper phases at the moment and so to bring my outfits out of the natural casual looks you get with jumpers like this one, I’ve been pairing them with smarter coats – this was a Primark bargain – and shoes that can instantly dress up an otherwise pretty boring outfit. Accessories-wise, I do like to keep things quite simple and on this day I broke out my beloved Speedy 35, to which I coveted for literally years, before finally taking the plunge and committing (literally as it’s got my initials on it) to just buying it. I feel like this was such a great buy and I can see myself using it time and time again.

I’d love to start doing a few handbag related videos and posts, and so keep your eyes peeled for a few What’s In My Bag’s and reviews. I’ll give you a hint, a bit of Chloe and Givenchy may be involved. And speaking of videos, yes, it’s my hope to get my YouTube channel back up and going very soon. Watch this space…

The Best Gucci Dupe Ever?!

Well, it’s been quite a while since my last outfit post (well over half a year”) but I’m back with hopefully one or two weekly outfits. First up is one of my absolute new favourite outfits and considering I haven’t done photos like this for a while, they’ve turned out pretty good if i do say so myself (thanks mum)! I have to start by giving my new favourite bag (for now) a honouree mention, which I hope you’ll all agree is one of the best Gucci Marmont dupes out there – isn’t it amazing! Now I’m of course still lusting after the real deal, but for now at over £1000 cheaper, I’m happy with this beauty.
I also decided it was about time I broke out an old favourite; this Topshop coat from last year that I really should get round to wearing more often. There’s so many amazing and similar versions of this coat flying around, including this one from Missguided, and I just think a white/cream coat should be a wardrobe staple – even if it isn’t the most practical!
The rest of this outfit is pretty simple, with a staple pair of blue wash jeans, my new favourite khaki H&M jumper and these black boots that I’ve only really rediscovered the past few months! Now I don’t like to promise these things, but hopefully this is going to be the first of many more outfit posts on my blog (and YouTube) this year. I’d love to hear your thoughts, and let me know what other content you’d like to see…
