So this month I decided to finally sign up to a beauty box and see for myself what all the hype is about. For my first box subscription, I chose the August Birchbox for its fun designs and wider range of products, and the box is available for a monthly fee of £12.99 including postage. Use my referral link here for a discount off your first box!
August’s box theme is ‘Mermaid Vibes’ and for my first box I’m pretty happy about this one! I received 5 products in the box (3 full-sized), and a little extra freebie (also full-sized) after entering a code at the checkout, and from what I’ve seen of other people’s boxes, I think I got quite a good set of products.
The first product I received was the Spectrum Collections A05 Brush from the Bombshell collection – I actually got to choose between this and the blue version after ordering – and I couldn’t be happier with this. The brush retails for £6.99 and is super soft and fluffy, making a lovely addition to my collection, perfect for bronzer or blush.
Oribe Wave and Shine Spray – £36 (full size)
I’ve been wanting to try something from Oribe for absolutely ages now, and so when I saw this mini-sized version in my box I was over the moon. This spray claims to add moisture and shine to your hair, while giving it a beach wave effect. I’m yet to try this but having heard so many rave reviews about Oribe as a whole, I’m certain it’s going to leave my hair looking magical and mermaid-like.
Palmer’s Coconut Oil Body Lotion – £4 (full size)
This one was a very welcomed product as the full sized version is actually my everyday staple when it comes to bodycare. I use the Palmer’s Coconut lotion every day without fail and it even became my sunburn (and peeled skin) saviour whilst on holiday, so this cute mini-sized version is the perfect handbag companion for on-the-go.
Merci Handy ‘Hello Sunshine’ Hand Cleansing Gel – £3 (full size)
Funnily enough, I actually hadn’t heard of this brand until my holiday in June, when I bought two of these little cuties from Sephora. Luckily the scent I received in my box was different to those I bought so now I have three gels, perfect for my handbag. I literally carry hand gel everywhere with me and these smell amazing so thank you Birchbox!
LOC One and Done Eyeshadow Stick in Rock Steady – £8 (full size)
Having never heard of this brand before, I quickly discovered that it’s actually created by Birchbox themselves and seems to be a regular in their monthly boxes. This eyeshadow crayon claims to be waterproof and last up to 11 hours, this is yet to be tried but I’m excited to give it a go. Upon swatching it, I noticed instantly how super creamy and bendable it is and not to mention so pigmented; I think this may be the perfect metallic bronze/brown.
And finally as mentioned above, Birchbox were giving a code upon signing up to receive a free makeup bag and full sized Nails Inc polish. Of course I jumped at this offer and received a beautiful coral pink shade to add to my nail polish collection, as well as a super fun and summery striped makeup bag.
That’s it for my August Birchbox review, I hope you’ve enjoyed this box and there will be another next month! If you want to try Birchbox for yourself, use my referral code here.
